Awaiting
Awaiting is a suspended piñata sculpture wrapped in layered bureaucratic documents, archival records, and contemporary media imagery that collapses historical and contemporary forms of exclusion, confinement, and state administration that have disproportionately shaped migrant communities into a single surface. The sculpture holds celebration and violence, hope and uncertainty, in unresolved tension. Rather than offering catharsis, it asks who is kept in suspension, what waiting produces, and what forms of collective life and freedom persist despite systems designed to contain them.
