Día de los Muertos Community Celebration
Developed and coordinated a Día de los Muertos public program designed to engage community members of all ages while honoring the cultural significance and traditions of the holiday. The event featured storytelling, face painting, live music, dance performances, hands-on workshops, and community activities that celebrated remembrance, creativity, and collective gathering.
Working closely with cultural advisors, community members, students, and organizers, we developed programming that centered cultural authenticity and intergenerational participation. Participants created their own alebrijes while learning about their role within Mexican folk traditions and Día de los Muertos celebrations.
Recognizing that many people were unable to attend in person, I also developed an augmented reality face-painting experience that allowed participants to engage with the celebration remotely. The project explored how digital tools can expand access to cultural traditions while maintaining meaningful connections to memory, family, and community.
